PAKTURK INTER SCHOOL MATH OLYMPIAD 2008

             PAKTURK International Schools Multan Branch has arranged first INTER-SCHOOL MATHS OLYMPIAD (ISMO) on 23^rd November 2008. The Olympiad provided a valuable opportunity for interaction between schools and students. Teachers met with competition coordinators while their students were busy solving problems. The event rewarded students for academic excellence. The Olympiad was bilingual (Urdu and English).

The main purpose of the ISMO was to spur interest in mathematics and to develop talent through the excitement of solving challenging problems in a timed multiple-choice format. The problems ranged from the very easy to the extremely difficult. Students who participated in the event found that most of the problems were challenging but within their grasp. The contest was intended for everyone from the average student at a typical school who enjoys mathematics to the very best student at the most special school.

The Olympiad was dedicated to the goal of strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation's youth. We believed that one way to meet this goal was to identify, recognize and reward excellence in mathematics through a series of national contests.

What happens before and after the Pakturk Olympiad can have lasting educational value. Talents will be enhanced if one practices beforehand, by working through previous examinations,  most importantly, by studying mathematics more intensely than one normally does in schools.

Total participants remarked as 1050 (one thousand and fifty) students from more than 200 different schools of the province. Result announced on 13 December 2008, students were awarded with cash prizes as follows.

First Position                :         Rs 10,000/-

Second Position            :         Rs 7,000/-

Third Position               :         Rs 5,000/-
